About me
Dr. Merrie Koester is a science literacy and communication specialist for the University of SC Center for Science Education. Founder/director of Kids Teaching Flood Resilience, her work centers the building of research practice partnerships that legitimize and position science literate youth as community resilience ambassadors. Kids Teaching Flood Resilience is a vertically articulated program for both middle and high school youth and is structured as a RESILIENCE QUEST for POWER KNOWLEDGE that can save lives. The curriculum features interactive, immersive, arts-based science teaching methods designed to meaningfully engage all learners.
